Dear Colleagues On behalf of the German Work Group on Acute Pain (CAAS) and Work Group of Perioperative Medicine (CAPM) of the German Surgical Society (DGCH) and all other participating pain societies it is a great pleasure and honor to invite you to the already VII. Congress on Acute Pain in Cologne. The spirit of the congress is the interdisciplinary multiprofessional exchange between physicians and nurses and has by no means become a landmark meeting in the congress calender of the year. „Acute Pain Management and Perioperative Medicine – a Task for Surgeons?! The interest of surgeons in pain management concepts and science is still scarce, although they are strongly involved in perioperative pain therapy. Time constraints and significant changes in the health care system leaves little room for a more active role aside the operation theatre, administrative work and others. On the other hand we are convinced that only an interdisciplinary approach is best for our patients. Possible solutions and new approaches will be discussed in plenary sessions Several other symposia, plenary and free paper sessions as well as posters will be organized related to current topics in the Global Year Against Acute Pain (GYAAP) of the IASP (www.iasp-pain.org). We are looking forward to your abstract submissions to free paper sessions and poster presentations online via this website / abstract by July 31, 2011 at the latest. As our congress venue we chose the Hotel “Holiday Inn Köln - Am Stadtwald” with ideal possibilities for the meeting.The hotel is located at a lake with easy connections to the city centre and old part of Cologne
